30 weeks!!

I can't believe we're at the three-quarter mark. 75% sounds so close to finished. But then, 25% still sounds like a lot of time left. It still seems like we have plenty of time to finish getting ready. It sounds like I still have a lot of time to expand and get very uncomfortable. Assuming we go at least the full 40 weeks, of course.

How far along: 30 weeks

Countdown to EDD: 10 weeks/70 days

Baby is the size of a: Cucumber. Baby is still practicing his breathing skills. I felt hiccups for the first time this week!

Physical symptoms: Heartburn (my own fault, thanks buffalo chicken), pretty intense RLP and lower back pain on my right side. I realized I stand with all of my weight on my right foot and I need to stop. My belly is getting too heavy for that.

Mood: Mostly good

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  Enough

Maternity clothes: Nothing new. I did buy some new non-maternity yoga pants though. My old ones were OLD. I think I'll pack them in my hospital bag since they've been on their way out for years.

Sleep: Not bad. I don't sleep through the night, but I sleep without terrible pain.

Best moment of the week: We finished ordering our cloth diaper stash! I'm so pumped for them to get here.

Movement: It's different all of a sudden. I still get kicks and pokes, but now I really feel his whole body moving. Sometimes he'll lean up against the outside and I can see him and feel him sitting there. It makes my stomach look misshapen.

Food cravings/aversions: French fries and Boston creme donuts, not necessarily together but I probably wouldn't say no.

Sex: Boy

Labor signs: Tons of BH contractions, thankfully nothing else

What I miss: Beer and cold turkey hoagies

What I am looking forward to: Getting our cloth diapers, finishing up the nursery, Thanksgiving, the end of the semester...

Milestones: Today! 30 weeks sounds like a big deal. The next big number will be our EDD!

Showing yet: I squeezed myself into a non-maternity tank to make another comparison photo. I'm pretty sure that I felt "puffy" at 10 weeks. L.O.L. Check out my boobs too. Go on, have a look - you don't even need a magnifying glass anymore. They're just still just a B, but that's a B for "Biggest they've ever been".

29 weeks

First, I need to show off my babies. They were crayons for Halloween - Binks was green and Bear was red. Bear doesn't mind dressing up, especially if he's rewarded with treats. Binks was not into his hat at all. As soon as I put his costume on he just froze, so I didn't make him wear it. We had so much fun sitting on the porch waiting for kids to come by though. I really do think my boys will love having a baby in the house.

How far along: 29 weeks

Countdown to EDD: 11 weeks/77 days

Baby is the size of an: acorn squash. That's festive. Baby boy is about 3 lbs and growing quickly! No shit.

Physical symptoms: Some new stuff - lower back pain, inability to eat a full meal (and chest pain if I try), headaches - plus the usual soreness and fatigue.

Mood: Fine I guess, but I've been weirdly needy. I keep crying when Seth tries to leave the house. I think I'm just lonely during the week and so worried about being really lonely in January.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I don't really want to know. It feels like I gained a good amount this week.

Maternity clothes: Mostly yes but I went shopping for some maternity sweaters the other day and they are too big or just ridiculously unflattering. Non-maternity tunics are better.

Sleep: Not too bad.

Best moment of the week: We toured the hospital this week. Seth and I had a great time and the hospital is awesome. They have separate birthing and recovery rooms, but they're all private. The standard birthing rooms are ugly (floral wallpaper) but have all of the same amenities of the VIP room (minus the refrigerator and big ass TV). However, the recovery rooms are all fully updated. Even the standard rooms have the "luxury shower" area and double beds. I don't think we'll bother upgrading to the VIP room (though they did drop the price to $200/night) because the only extra is a seating area for guests and we don't expect many/any guests.

Movement: Yep. I started kick counting this week. I highly recommend the Baby Bump Pro app. It's $2.99 (unless you have free Amazon credits - woohoo!) but it would be worth it, IMO. It's better than any of the free ones I tried and good for lazies who don't want to keep paper records.

Food cravings/aversions: I want all of the food, but it doesn't fit in my stomach anymore.

Sex: Boy

Labor signs: Still having lots of BH contractions, but water and rest really helps.

What I miss: I'm going to echo Jaytee and say that I miss being able to pull off shoes/socks/leggings by myself. It's such a difficult task these days.

What I am looking forward to: 30 weeks feels like a big deal. After that we'll be in single digit weeks!

Milestones: Same as above I guess.

Showing yet: Yes. This morning Seth said, "Wow look at you! It's starting to get real!". Starting? Really? I was unimpressed. Anyway - check me out in my men's department Christmas pajamas. It's "freezing" here in Florida.

28 weeks

How far along: 28 weeks

Countdown to EDD: 12 weeks/84 days

Baby is the size of an: Eggplant. Baby's brain is becoming more developed and he's "breathing" in amniotic fluid

Physical symptoms: Mostly just a sore and uncomfortable with a little bit of heartburn every now and then. And I'm exhausted all the time. I found out I'm anemic so that could be contributing to my fatigue. Hopefully the supplements will help.

Mood: Pretty good

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  +12-13. Whatever. Baby looks fine, so I'm not worrying about it.

Maternity clothes: Yep, most of the time.

Sleep: Not bad this week! I pee a lot, but I'm comfortable enough to go back to sleep easily.

Best moment of the week: Seeing our baby at the growth scan on Thursday! Everything looks good and he seems to be measuring a bit ahead so that's a relief. He's also head down and I'm hoping he stays that way. Also - I passed the glucose test so that's good news too.

Movement: Yep. I'm supposed to start kick counting today.

Food cravings/aversions: None that I can think of.

Sex: Boy

Labor signs: Nope, but I've had some more BHs contractions.

What I miss: Being able to bend over without being uncomfortable.

What I am looking forward to: We're going to tour the hospital this week. We already finished all of our classes, but now we'll get to see the actual L&D rooms.

Milestones: I guess passing the glucose test was a big deal.

Showing yet: Of course. Here I am in another Sunday "outfit". Don't judge me.

27 weeks - 3rd Trimester!!!

Woohoo - we made it to the third trimester! I can't believe it. Yesterday marked 6 months as well (counting from the 18th to the 18th). Only about three months to go!

I'm feeling much better this week. My fever and most of the aches were gone by Monday morning and I haven't had any problems since I started the antibiotics. Hopefully this isn't a reoccurring problem. Thanks so much for all of the good thoughts and advice last week! (Did I say this already? If so, I'm sorry. Pregnancy brain is very real.)

How far along: 27 weeks

Countdown to EDD: 13 weeks/91 days

Baby is the size of a: Rutabaga (I don't actually know what the fuck that is.) Baby is practicing his breathing skills and he's showing signs of brain activity now.

Physical symptoms: Tired, sore hips, sore lower back, zero memory

Mood:  Mostly good, a little bit irrational but I really can't blame that on pregnancy.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  +12

Maternity clothes: Still love them (although everything I'm wearing in this picture is regular).

Sleep:  Not great, I'm getting up to pee too often.

Best moment of the week: I've been obsessed with a certain baby carrier and I found one for sale this week! It took some work, but I convinced Seth that we "needed" it and I bought it! I'm so pumped. He says he doesn't get it, but I know he'll love it. It's going to look great on him! Especially with a baby in it.

Movement: I think he moved from a side-to-side position to up-and-down because I'm noticing some movements are really high above my belly button now.

Food cravings/aversions: Still eating all of the cinnamon raisin everything.

Sex: Still a boy.

Labor signs: Nope.

What I miss: I missed a margarita on Friday.

What I am looking forward to: Tomorrow I have the glucose tolerance test and another Rhogam injection (assuming they don't dick it up again), so I'm looking forward to getting those out of the way.

Milestones: Third trimester!!! Woohoo! I'm so pumped.

Showing yet: Yep. Pardon my appearance - I told you I don't wear real clothes on Sunday. Look how cute Bear is though! Clearly, he thinks I'm a freak.

Baby Shower

Oh my gosh I've been so busy. I finally had some free time this afternoon so I took a few pictures so that I can finally post about my shower.

MY baby shower :)

CAKE!!!
It was awesome. My mom and sisters did such a wonderful job. It was exactly as I always hoped it would be. I only made it to the second gift before I started crying (which I didn't really expect). It was from one of my sisters. In her card, she wrote something about being afraid that this day would never happen, but being so happy that it was finally here. I just cried. That's EXACTLY how I have been feeling this whole time about all of this. I've been so scared that we would never get to have a baby and experience all of the wonderful things that come along with being a parent. I am so incredibly grateful that we're getting this chance. I also feel so lucky to have family who are there for me in good times and bad. It's very hard to understand what it's like to be infertile unless it happens to you, but my family is amazing. It's obvious that they care very much about us. I'm sad that they have felt even a small amount of the pain and fear that Seth and I have experienced, but I'm so grateful that we didn't have to go through this alone.

Back to the fun part! My family is so generous and our little guy was completely spoiled. We received a bunch of the big things that we need and want - swing, bouncer, bath tub, bassinet, pack n play - and lots of little necessities and fun items. Here are some of my favorite gifts.

Left: These are all toys from "Guess How Much I Love You". I love that book and bunnies are one of my favorite animals. There's also a little moon that lights up and plays music and a rattle.

Right: That's an accessory bag that matches the diaper bag I ordered (which should get here on Saturday!). They're all Ju Ju Be. I am so pumped. I've been watching You Tube videos about organizing your Ju Ju Be backpack for cloth diapering and I can't wait to get it. The print it yellow and gray. We chose it because it's fun enough for me and simple enough for Seth to carry.

Left: Look at this teeny little diaper cover! I registered for some Thirsties covers to use with prefold diapers. Look at the teeny little clothes pins too! My mom used them at the shower and gave them to me to use with my CD laundry.

Right: Bilingual books! We got a bunch of these from my sister and nieces. We're hoping that Seth will be able to teach the baby Spanish so that he has no trouble communicating with that side of his family. My niece was so excited to give us the books because she has some of the same ones in English. She also said she's going to say "Hola" when she meets her cousin for the first time.

We got so many cute little outfits and onesies. These are a few of my favorites. Baby needs to know about his background! There's still some debate on whether he'll be an Eagles fan or a Dolphins fan, but we'll let him decide when he's old enough. He's got plenty of gear to represent both teams already. Oh and obviously, he loves huskies!

One of the best gifts was our stroller and car seat set. I am so pumped about this. It was my favorite of all the ones we tried at the store (even more than the Britax or City Mini). The things I love about it are that it has 3 wheels, it's very light, easy to fold and maneuver, and it has the world's biggest canopy. Look at it! I also love the neutral colors and simple pattern.

I'm having so much fun sorting through everything and getting the nursery set up. I'll be doing more of that this weekend. So next up - nursery progress! For now, let's end of the world's longest AW post.

26 weeks

This was not the relaxing weekend that I was hoping for. I feel guilty complaining because our little guy is perfectly fine, but if I'm being honest - I feel pretty shitty. Friday night we spent a few hours in L&D because I started peeing blood. Finally, the urine analysis confirmed it was a UTI and we went home after 1:00 AM. The next day it took way too long for the doctors to get a prescription into my pharmacy (the nurse gave them my information before I was discharged), but I have it now so that's good. Then this morning, I woke up feeling even worse. I have so much pain/discomfort from the waist down. It feels just like endo pain. I can't take anything to relieve it or find a comfortable position. I'm not even sure if it's related to the UTI, because the other symptoms I had seem better today. I just hope it gets better soon.

ETA: I have a fever above the limit listed on my discharge papers (100.4) so I just made another call to the on-call doctor. Hopefully it's not a big deal :(

How far along: 26 weeks

Countdown to EDD: 14 weeks/98 days

Baby is the size of a: Lettuce. His eyes are forming (I didn't realize they weren't even formed yet) and he'll be able to open them soon.

Physical symptoms: UTI, body aches

Mood: Crappy today

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I don't know, maybe +12

Maternity clothes: Love them. I got new maternity leggings for $13 yesterday.

Sleep: Eh

Best moment of the week: After our crappy night Friday, Seth and I (okay, I) treated myself to my diaper bag and all of the accessories I wanted! I can't wait until it gets here.

Movement: Yep - it was kind of cool to be hooked up to the fetal monitor because it was like his movement had sound effects. But I also felt bad about it because I know that Baby doesn't really care for the doppler.

Food cravings/aversions: Nothing in particular.

Sex: Boy

Labor signs: Not really. I had one BH contraction Friday while I was being monitored and I think I had a few yesterday, but that was it.

What I miss: Not being in pain.

What I am looking forward to: 3rd trimester - just one more week!

Milestones: Just waiting for 3rd tri...

Showing yet: Yep - enough that my students feel like it's safe to ask me about it. This is from yesterday. There's no way I'm putting on clothes today.

25 weeks

First, I want to apologize for being a bad blogger friend. Things have been really busy at work plus traveling plus family visits this weekend and next - I haven't had much time to sit down and comment on what's going on with everyone. I am doing my best to keep up though and I'm thinking of you all the time! Hopefully things settle down again soon. I am ready for a break.

How far along: 25 weeks

Countdown to EDD: 15 weeks/103 days - almost down to double digits!

Baby is the size of a: Cauliflower. Baby is probably over a foot long and could weigh as much as 2.2 lbs. I believe it. It feels like he's taking up so much space now.

Physical symptoms: Lots of stretching, exhaustion and some crazy dreams.

Mood: Pretty good, except for the exhaustion.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  +11, I think

Maternity clothes:  Definitely necessary. I gave up on regular pants. Some regular tops and leggings/yoga pants still work, but mostly I wear maternity close.

Sleep: I feel like sleep is going well, but I'm still tired.

Best moment of the week: I went to a breastfeeding class this week and really enjoyed that.

Movement: Yep - he's really starting to run out of space though. Most of the time I love it, but sometimes it's uncomfortable or painful.

Food cravings/aversions: I want all of the food (except eggs).

Sex: Still a boy

Labor signs: Nope

What I miss: Wine looked really good this week.

What I am looking forward to: Third trimester - only a few more weeks!

Milestones: Last week was the big one, I guess 3rd tri will be the next big thing.

Showing yet: Definitely. My belly feels massive and I still (hopefully) have 15 more weeks to grow. That kind of freaks me out a little bit. I can't even imagine what it's going to feel like.
